Day 1
We stopped by a seafood restaurant to have our lunch. *yumss* Dd & I was dam alert and on guard the whole day, we were afraid that we will get targeted as a theft victim since locals themselves admit that it isn't safe as well.
First day was really boring and we didn't have any freedom of choice on where we can go but thankful that Dd & I have each other we can complain to. HAHA.
ohh & we slpt at radio aunty's house and we actually bathe using well water (no heater), and due to limited space, Dd & I end up slping on the floor, sharing 1 pillow tgther. haha.
*End of Day 1*
Day 2
Woke up with lots of mosquito bites, you wouldn't want to imagine. anw.. we went to the beach today and seriously, it is just seawater and sand, not much like Singapore. Lucky for me, it was bearable since i love the sound of sea and the cool breeze but Dd and his parents felt really boreddd. But we didn't have much choice since radio aunty was taking lead of the whole day. Worst still, we were told to book the 'huts' for her sister till they arrive. so yeah, we practically rotted there for quite a few hours. Drank coconut juice fresh from the shell.. NICEEE:D hee.
When we went back to radio aunty house that night, Dd & I chatted and we talked about how we can enjoy this trip better instead of being so grumpy and whiny:x
Day 3
Today was slightly better, well at least for me (: Woke up @ 4am. Radio aunty was being really radio-y. As expected she talked through the whole journey to Lake Toba when we all needed our morning rest in the car. Upon arrival, we had a boat ride across the big big lake. When the boat stopped at one of the spot in the river, we see a few sampan with children in it. Whats shocking is that, people from the boat start throwing money down into the river and the kids jumped off the sampan to fight for it. I don't really understand the smiles on the passengers' face as they threw the money down. But i know i was hurting deep inside when i witness these scene. I could still rmb the look on the faces of these kids.. I wished they could have had more, i wondered if thats what they do for a living as a kid...
On our final round across the river, Dd & I bought maggie mee from a young lil girl who was selling it to the passengers. I reflected and asked myself what was i doing at their age.. Well, watching Hi 5 i guess. um:/
The driver came to fetch us in the evening and drove us home. Through the way, he got caught in a jam and was diverted by the traffic police to take another route. Unfortunately that route seems to be foreign and longer than actual one, the sky went dark at around 7pm and since there isn't much lamp lights by the street. the village looks really creepy. Dd & I hugged each other through the journey as we are so afraid that we might get lost since the driver isn't sure where that route was leading us to as well. After 3 hours, we managed to see light and arrive home before midnight.
Day 4
Things were getting better and Dd got to purchase 1 jeans, 2 nice shirts & 1 pair of shoes @only S$32! (: *Imagine his happy face* Whereas for me i didn't managed to get any by the roadside stores since it's all guy's apparels. Wanted to get for my brother but there isn't his size:/ MEH. Before that we went to a shopping mall and i got myself a long sleeve hoodie:D yayy. it was at a good deal too. well, considered i guess^^
Stopped by a roadside stall to eat durian and i swear Indonesia is the first country where i get to throw the seed anywhr in the grass. So Dd and I compete to see who can throw the furthest. HAHAH T_T
Radio aunty then bought us to one of her relative house and over there, we managed to have one of the best meals within these 4 days as we have been consuming roadside food since the day we arrived in Medan. It was yummy but the hygiene is kinda...yeah, with lots of houseflies flying around. After dinner, Dd & I then stroll down t a nearby mama shop set up by one of the villagers there and bought a bagful of sweets at only S$1++! Good deal:D hahaha.
Day 5
Another day where we woke up at 4am! Went to MA-DA-SAN today. BURRR. *cold morning* Was expecting lots of things to play with but sadly no.:x but i must really admit that the scenery there was WOOOW. very relaxing and beautiful ^^
Also, at least we got to experience plucking of orange from a villager's garden. and we ate on the spot. HEHE. Not only that Dd & I got to experience horse riding for the first time!! i was so nervous but thankful that the horse is really tame. Can you believe they walk the horse not in a grassland but on the road! OMO. hahaha.
Day 6
Due to our determination to shop, we managed to obtain freedom 90% of the day at our own risk. So they dropped Dd& I at a shopping mall however the prices was alil.....marked up. Maybe it was meant to suck tourist money. LOL. So we walked around and was attracted by a kiddy play. HEHE. We end up spending our time doing sand art ^^ HEE. funn with Dd! the staff was really friendly despite our communication barrier.
After which we stop by the roadside stalls and Dd bought another pair of shoes, 2 caps , 1 belt and 1 shirt. besttt:D hahaha. All good deals! Whereas fpr me i got 3 pieces of casual clothing and 1 pair of shoes ^_^ Contented much.
That pretty much sums up our 6 days trip in Medan. Really appreciate the help of radio aunty though i must admit i found her quite annoying at the start but through the way i learn to appreciate her efforts and was touched by the waay villagers communicate with one another. It doesn't matter if you're someone new to them, they treat you with a warm welcome. The trip was fine overall (:
